Entry of the Week: A passerby informed ECPD that someone was vandalizing the police cruiser in Allen's Alley. The officers found a male sitting next to the cruiser. The passerby confirmed that the male had been the person vandalizing the car. It was discovered that the male had an active warrant out for his arrest for assault to rob with a firearm. David Reed, 36, from Wakefield was arrested by ECPD for the outstanding warrant, malicious destruction of property, and trespassing.


Tuesday, Feb. 17

• Emerson College Police Department and the Boston Fire Department reported to 549 Washington St. after a fire alarm went off. A welder working at the building had struck the alarm with his equipment and set the alarm off by accident.

• An officer on patrol in front of 180 Tremont St. found a semi-conscious intoxicated man who appeared to be in his thirties lying on the sidewalk. The officer called an ambulance, and the man was picked up by EMS.

• Two female students were working out at the gym at 275 Tremont St. and engaged in conversation with two males in the gym. The students went into an elevator and the two men followed. Later that evening, the two men arrived at the room. The students asked them to leave and they complied. The students called ECPD. It was discovered that the two men were from an English basketball team that was staying in the area. ECPD spoke with the advisor of the basketball team and asked the advisor to tell the men to stay away from the students.


Friday, Feb. 20

• A staff member had her wallet stolen from her purse while she was talking to a student. The staff member had noticed a suspicious male in the area and later saw that he was gone and that her wallet had also disappeared. The wallet contained $35, credit cards, and personal papers.

• A student reported that his Xbox hard drive had been stolen from the twelfth floor common room at 80 Boylston St. The student valued the hard drive at $60.


Sunday, Feb. 22

• ECPD was called to 275 Tremont St. by residence directors and RAs who smelled marijuana coming from a student's room. Officers found six students inside. The officers smelled marijuana but saw none of the students smoking. The officers were allowed to conduct a search by the students and found a pipe, bongs, and a dish with marijuana residue in the bathroom and closets. ECPD confiscated the paraphernalia and the owner denied knowledge of the items. The matter was turned over to the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

• ECPD responded to a call from the third floor of 120 Boylston St. for a report of a smell of gas. They notified Boston Fire Department and the officers, BFD, and the Boston Haz-Mat team conducted a search of 120 Boylston St. and the surrounding buildings. The source of the smell appeared to come from the women's bathroom at Remington's. Remington's was closed and the area was vented. The source of the smell was not found, but did diminish.
