As President of Earth Emerson I would like to endorse Sen. Barack Obama for President of the United States of America. As Emerson College’s student-run environmental awareness group, it is important to myself and my group to support a president who will support creating new green jobs, clean energy and ending America’s dependence on foreign oil.

However, we feel it necessary to point out that Sen. Obama’s environmental and energy plan still has room for improvement.
We hope in the future Sen. Obama will realize there is no such thing as clean coal. While understanding that thousands of American jobs depend on coal, we believe Sen. Obama would be better off investing in training America’s coal workers to become pioneers in the green jobs community, moving away from coal completely and focusing on wind and solar energy. America also needs to move towards 100 percent clean, renewable energy now. America can’t wait. We need to take action now for our generation and future generations.

I believe that President Barack Obama will be the man to listen to our generation and make real change happen and lead America towards becoming an environmental leader in the world.
