By Laura Crawford

As the fourth season draws to a close, "Intervention" has delivered above and beyond the expectations for most reality television. Say what you want about HBO's "The Wire," but "Intervention" is the basic cable subscriber's opportunity to see complex social issues expounded on with insight and compassion.

Snow screams at Prom: Every corsage has its thorn

By Kate Andrews

Alfred Hitchcock was the master of suspense, a god of film that directors and audiences alike have worshipped since the 1920s. Never before or since has there been anyone who could create such tense, claustrophobic situations that could force even the most skeptic of moviegoers to the edge of their seats.

Lez Rock 'n' Roll

By Lisa Johnson

A Led Zeppelin cover band from New York City has finally added something to the performance of Led's epic songs that even the reanimated corpse of drummer John Bonham could not: breasts. Equally feminine vocal styling makes Lez Zeppelin, the "All Girl" ensemble, much more than a gimmick.

Picking up on the current climate of independent cinema and cultivating the nascent trends, the IFFB will find its home once again at the Somerville Theatre, Coolidge Corner Theatre and the Brattle from April 23-29.

Frogacs does monster mashups

By Jessica O'Byrne

In the eyes of the Internet generation, a "mashup" is defined as a work which recombines and modifies existing work-film, text, audio, still image or any combination thereof-in order to create something new. This technique originated in nightclubs and behind soundboards, where DJs and emcees would combine vocal tracks with one or more songs with the audio tracks from another source.
