Gangs, guns, Girls Gone Wild at Tremont St. club

Two patrons were shot at the Aria nightclub on Tremont Street, adjacent to Emerson's Little Building dormitory, early Sunday morning, following what police said was a 35-person brawl. Damion J. Haley of Milton is being charged with two counts of attempted murder after Boston Police officers observed him firing into the crowd after the fight erupted, the police report said.

Number of reserve books increases to almost 1,000

The number of books on reserve at Emerson's Iwasaki Library has significantly increased this semester, making it harder for the staff to get the right books to students and professor on time, according to library officials. An Emerson visual and media arts professor who wished to remain anonymous in order to continue putting books on reserve said she feels this semester has been worse than usual.

The Language Exchange Program, an Emerson group focusing on the development of language skills and culture through conversation, matches students with primarily Spanish-speaking Emerson facilities and food services employees by language ability.

House debates raising state cigarette tax

The hassle of being a smoker at Emerson College may soon be more than standing 25 feet away from a dormitory entrance. Massachusetts Speaker of the House Salvatore DiMasi proposed a $1 increase in the state's cigarette tax at a press conference earlier this month.
